YARD has rolled out a major upgrade to how business events are categorized and found: a structured location database designed to eliminate confusion and improve search accuracy.
Previously, business events were tied to free-text location names — leading to inconsistent results due to variations like "New York," "New York City," or "NYC." With the new system in place, those inconsistencies are resolved. Events are now linked to a standardized geographic hierarchy:
- City → State → Country → Region
- Duplicate spellings are unified under consistent, searchable entries.
- Users can now find events better everywhere, including in states.
- Locations include additional metadata, such as translations into German.
Events are now also assigned to states and regions, making targeted browsing possible — for instance, viewing business events in Bavaria.
This improved location system is more than just a technical improvement. It lays the groundwork for the products to support additional languages beyond English — starting with German. The new functionality is also used in tools when dealing with smart locations, for example when adding an event.
