Description

We are delighted to invite you to participate in our bankenimpuls event, which takes place on

Thursday, 29 January 2026 at 4 p.m. online

The topic of the event is “Ideas for reforming Europe’s banking regulation”.

2026 will be a decisive year in the debate on more competitiveness and simplifying banking regulation. After years of increasing complexity, it is clear that stability must not come at the expense of financing opportunities, profitability and international competitiveness. A paradigm shift is required.

How can more efficient banking regulation ensure greater growth and investment in a sovereign Europe? What measures would be needed specifically?

Initiatives on this have already been put forward by the German Banking Industry Committee (DK), the ECB’s High-Level Task Force and the EBA, among others. The EU Commission’s competitiveness report, expected in the middle of the year, will also play a decisive role in setting the course for the future.

In our compact online event, we will give you an overview of the key considerations in the current debate – and take a look ahead to the future.

Discussion with
- Michaela Zattler, Head of Banking Supervision and Accounting, Bankenverband
- Ingmar Wulfert, Director, Bankenverband
